Re: Freaking out tonight-need to hear positive experiences about meds/anesthesia!

I am going to have my LAVH on Monday, but have had several biopsies done. The "sleepy medicine" has been used on me usually knocks me right out, first you kind of feel relaxed, and then after a few seconds you just go to sleep. Time for me seems to pass by so quick, i don't even realize i was out. I think its perfectly normal to feel scared and anxious about going under, I think we all do. Getting all these feelings and mixed emotions are fine too, i know i have in the last few days made everyone think i am nuts! Best of luck to you!

Re: Freaking out tonight-need to hear positive experiences about meds/anesthesia!

I have heard that part of the drugs that they give actually block the memory of all the events. My family laughed at me at the hospital because of my white knuckled grasp on my pain pump and asking if it had been 8 minutes yet. But actually the pain management was the least of my problems. I did not feel loopy or out of control. I just slept alot and couldn't concentrate real well. I wouldn't want to be in charge of anything real important while on them but there were no real bad side effects. They will be your best friend those first few days and then you can switch to OTCs and be on your way.

My dear hystersister,

Sorry I didn't see your question before but I'm curious...........how did you feel with the "cocktail" of meds? How was your surgery? Hope you are recovering well.

((((HUGS))))

I am happy for you. The time will go by and things get better each day. Get some sleep and take your meds this week. You sound really good!

One day at a time.

Re: Freaking out tonight-need to hear positive experiences about meds/anesthesia!

They will give u something to relax and u will not be worried at that point. You will feel sleepy and in the blink of an eye you will wake up and it will seem like you were only asleep for a second. And believe me..you can not be any more panicky or anxious than I was..I was convinced I would die from the anesthesia..you will do great!
