I feel horrible: mood swings and very crabby

Tomorrow will be week 4 post op for me. I have my ovaries, but I feel horrible. I have mood swings, very crabby, and sometimes emotional. Is this normal? I feel like it's getting worse.

Re: new topic

Just because you kept your ovaries, it doesn't mean that they are working correctly. The blood supply to ovaries often gets disrupted or cut off and it takes time for that to get sorted out if it ever does. I would suggest you call your doctor and have a talk with him or her on how you are feeling. He or she might prescribe temporary HRT to help you get through this. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: feels hoorible

I am 12 weeks pot-op & I kept one of my ovaries because I wanted to avoid early menopause, I'm 43. After week 4, I started feeling like you do: sad, crying, hot flashes, I couldn't concentrate on anything, unable to sleep. My doctor did a blood test for hormone levels and the ovary they left behind "quit working."

I have since started taking hormone pills.. Premarin .045 and that has helped a lot but I still feel like I'm not quite right. it is getting better though..Talk to your doctor about what you are experiencing. Maybe your ovaries aren't producing enough estrogen and you need to look at alternatives. Good Luck!

Re: feels hoorible

You are still very early post op. During a hysterectomy the blood supply to the ovaries can be cut off. It can take some time for them to begin functioning again. Be patient, talk with your doctor, and give yourself some time to recover.
