I'm back from the castle!

I went in on Friday the 13th and got out on Monday the 16th. I had an abdominal hysterectomy with one ovary removed because it was enlarged. I got all reports back no cancer. I had a large fibroid and a very thick lining of my uterus. All in all not so bad...once you learn how to get out of bed! After my first walk down the hall I felt soooo much better. First 2 times up were rough though. Second time up was 1st trip to bathroom after cath was removed and thought I was gonna pass out but my lovely nurse decided to strip my bed so I could get back to it right away - thought for sure I was gonna pass out in the bathroom - wanted to strangle nurse lol. Made it back to bed ok though. First day and night I had 3 pain shots and second day I had 2 pain pills, third no pain meds needed other than tylenol because I developed a low temp, 4th day "GOING HOME" nurses talked me into a pain pill for the ride home and that was the last one I took (I do recommend the one for the ride home - think it helped out alot - bumpy roads suck - lol) Haven't needed anything buy a couple of tylenol here and there. Strongly suggest walking as soon as you can - made it soooo much easier to move after I took my first walk...so much easier to get out of bed after that too. Had a little discomfort from gas but that also got better after the walk. Took 2 days to have a bowel movement...little rough... better all was better after that 1st one. I would be glad to answer anyones questions and wish everyone a smooth recovery! Thanks to all who helped me prepare for my stay at the castle. Things I used most were my chapstick, picture of kids, lemon drops, hairbrush, deodorant, toothbrush and paste. I had dry mouth (some call it cottonmouth) the first 2 days - made it hard to eat solid food - got stuck. But I was allow to eat regular diet after I ate one meal of a liquid diet. Lemon drops and chapstick helped alot with that. Good luck everyone.

Mistic, you made it! Yay! And no cancer, what great news! Yeah, those first times up are REALLY hard but you are so right, getting up and doing it makes a lot of difference.

It's great to have you back on the boards. Please rest and take good care of yourself. It's nothing but healing from here!
