overwhelmed and confused!

Hi Girlfriends,

Well, my surgery date is creeping up on me for October 27, and although I wish to get it over with I am of course terrified and confused after reading a million bits of information on the net and in medical literature. My problem now is I know too much but don't understand alot of it. I was recently diagnosed with a large ovarian mass by ultrasound a few weeks ago. I had experienced symptoms some severe, for 6 months to a year, but unfortunately, i have been caring for my husband who just passed away from cancer a few months ago, which put my health on the back burner. I attributed most of my symptoms to stress, fatigue and grief, until the pain and bloating drove me to my gyn. My diagnostic tests so far are not showing any other signs of ovarian cancer, and my endometrial biopsy was negative, but my age of 54 and the size of the growth, which is between 14 and 17 centimeters, the size of a cantelope, gives the doctors cause for concern. I do not have much emotional strength, since Tim died, and after seeing him suffer for this past year, I am in denial that this is happening to me. I am relieved to find your website and have the opportunity to share some of these fears and hopefully learn from all the strong women in this unique circle of ours. I am also very angry that this is happening to me, and sad that I will have to endure all this alone. Anyway, that is my story, and I will look forward to many conversations with you all.,and know it will help my outlook and recovery.

Cheers! Cheri K.

overwhelmed and confused!

Cheri,
First of all, big hugs to you! I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your husband, and now that you're facing this. I am going to keep you in my prayers .
You must be a very special person and sounds like you have gone thru a lot. It is very scary and confusing... all the things you read and stuff on the net. I didn't find this site until AFTER my surgery, and after reading some of the things I did... I was kind of glad.... But honestly, things went very well for me, even after a scare of the MRI indicating uterine cancer. It wasn't cancer, even though the tumors were in a place that indicated more than fiberoids. I am believing that all will go well with you too. We are here if you need us! Keep us posted each step of the way!

Welcome!

Hi,

I am so sorry for your loss and the grief you must feel. I hope this website offers you the same comfort, I have received.

I know it is hard to deal with the anxiety, I still don't have a date yet.

Best Wishes,

Anomis

overwhelmed and confused!

I can relate - my surgery is on Nov 4th and I too have been reading everything and it is overwhelming - you know the saying "a little bit of knowledge....can be a dangerous thing" - but anyway it is better to know and be prepared than be in the dark!

There is the excitement of getting it over with together with the fear and anticipation!!!!

Denial is a common emotion!! You have been through a lot already and just hang in there. You need to take care of yourself!! You are not alone - this is a great support site and you are already a strong woman for all you have come through already!!! Just pamper yourself a bit in preparation for the surgery date and ask others for help if you can!!

Take care of yourself - I will pray for you!!
