Gas anyone?
Okay, so along with problems of bladder leakage, I'm having terrible gas, an extraordinary amount of gas, and it is painful and embarrassingly smelly. Yikes.
Wondering if anyone has had this experience and has suggestions about how to deal with it. I'm trying to avoid gassy foods, eating bland and simply but that doesn't even seem to help.
Thanks in advance...if you see an odd-looking blimp floating in the Northeast, be gentle with it and it might be me...
Hattie

Gas anyone?
Hattie, I found that Gas-X (I like the thin strips that melt on your tongue) and walking helped tremendously. Good luck.

Gas anyone?
Be very, very happy you are passing your gas!!! I have found that Maximum Strength Gas Aid taken before meals helps if the gas is painful.
Passing gas is much better than the alternative.

Gas anyone?
Hi Hattie,
I have had gas something terrible since my surgery. I have been trying to move around more, increase my fluids, gas x, and taking stool softners. Mine seems to get worse in the evening. My tummy gets all bloated and gassy. Funny thing is before the surgery when I had gas, it would just rip right out with a bang, now it seems to barely wanna squeeze out. (I personally think that is me holding back, but anyways)
Hopefully soon we will get past this.
Kel

Gas anyone?
Gas-X worked miracles for me... at almost 4 months post op, things are much better, but as recently as a month ago, gas pain was still pretty awful at times!!!

Gas anyone?
Thanks everyone; I had a friend bring me some gas-x last night and at least it made the "passing" smoother. Wouldn't you know the kind friend who brought dinner last night brought a bean soup and some cooked cabbage?! Pretty funny actually...

Gas anyone?
Oh, the pain!
Misery loves company. (Sorry).
I've been feeling like I need to explode and simply cannot. Thought once I started having "movements" it would get better. Well, it hasn't.
My swollen belly feels like a dome of pain. That's how I describe it to my husband.
I've no idea how the actual incision is healing, because I'm not remotely aware of pain there; it's totally overpowered by the gas. Last night I felt it in my legs and shoulders.
I'll try to follow some of your suggestions.
Thanks all.

Gas anyone?
Ah yes, that first week is the worst...do walk around, it sure helped me...as did switching from percoset to anaprox for pain. i was amazed at how quickly that bloatedness went away after i stopped taking the percoset.
is it too irreverent to say "blessings on the passing of your gas"...
