Migrating ovary and cyst

Hello all! I had my hyst 3 months ago. I have had increasing pain down by my vaginal cuff for the last 2 weeks or so. Went in for an ultrasound and the tech told me my left ovary has migrated over to the right side of the cuff.

I also have the report:

Findings: The urinary bladder is moderately distended. The
uterus is surgically absent. Transabdominally the right ovary
measures 2.2 x 1.7 x 2.9 cm. The left ovary is best visualized
transvaginally measuring 2.6 x 1.8 x 2.0 cm. There is a simple
cyst in the left ovary measuring 1.8 x 2.2 x 1.5 cm. There is
no abnormal free fluid within the pelvis.

Impression:
1. Previous hysterectomy.
2. Left ovarian cyst measuring up to 2.2 cm.

Says nothing about migration. I'm thinking I've gotta have another sugery, haven't talked to doc yet. What do you guys think?

Oh I am sorry I don't know but hope you don't have to have surgery. Hopefully someone else can answer this?

Re: Migrating ovary and cyst

Some cysts resolve on their own. I was told it is not unusual for the ovaries to move around without there supporting structures (tubes/uterus). Surgery may or may not be necessary. I would try not to worry until you talk to them. Had a cyst on my left ovary, but dr said it was not a problem. I just had both ovaries removed because of severe pain, and dr suspects migration and or torsion.

Thanks for the answer! It seems that the cyst is quite large and I am having debilitating pain from it. I'd rather just get rid of it because I've had a burst cyst before and it hurts like a mother.

Re: Migrating ovary and cyst

I can tell you i was ready to get rid of one, but due to the fact the right side was doing the same and it is likely going to get worse, dr removed both ovaries. Im not typical, but this is becoming a tough recovery and hrt and all that, so be prepared and educated before you make that decision. I hope it doesnt come to that for you.
