Hi all,
I have my 2 wk post op tomorrow and was wondering what to expect. What kind of exam if any does the Dr do.
I have started a list of questions for him.
Thanks

I had a one week checkup.
Dr. B asked how I was feeling.
He ordered bloodwork to check my estrogen and testerone levels.
Due to the hot flashes and nightsweats and the fog I was in he gave me a higher dose of Vivelle estrogen patch from .5 to .75.
Dr. B checked my cervix, I had a LSH. He also checked my stitches.
Told me I was healing fine and that I can resume everything as before surgery.
He also discussed starting me on cystis meds in a month I'm on Uro Blue right now.
I go back in a month to retest my blood and start my cystis meds..
Best of luck to you!

My 2 week check up only consisted of an incision check and then my doctor answered any questions that I had.
I had an internal exam at 4 weeks. The exam was not bad. All the internal stitches were gone and I was told that I could ease back into my normal activities.

No blood work for me since I don't have ovaries anymore and I'm not on HRT yet.

On my 2 wk. check up dr. just checked my incision and removed the 23 staples! I felt a lot better when they were removed - had vertical incision. I am a little worried about the 5 wk. check up next wk. but I see that someone posted it doesn't hurt so we'll see! I had a total hysterectomy - ovaries removed plus lots of adhesions. My right ovary had attached itself to my colon - dr. said she had to cut it away and then stitch up the outside of my colon and that my inside lining of my stomach had attached to my intestines - uterus was huge with polyps and also had fibroids. I guess I was a mess in there! I have a question about something everyone seems to comment on - their inside stitches. I realize the dr. sewed my vagina shut at the top when she removed the cervix but what other stitches other than the staples are you ladies talking about????? Thanks for any feedback.

Missy,
In my post, I was referring to the internal stitches in the vaginal cuff. I think in most cases these are dissolvable and your doctor will check to see how they are dissolving and how you are healing.
I also posted that the internal exam wasn't bad. Like you, I was really nervous about it, but it ended up being for nothing. I hope you will have the same experience I did.
Good luck to you with your 5 week and also to tpath with your 2 week check up.

At my two week he did a vag exam to see how things were but was very careful and then asked if I had any questions. Thats about all I can remember.

2wk check up

I too went for my two week check up and they removed close to the same (staples) as you Missy. My question, are you still hurting alot? I have been having alot of pain on my left side hurts to sit up for very long. I too had scar tissue attached to my colon and bladder. That seems to be ok. My surgery was July 6th, go back August 1st.
