Need help with pain management
Endone not workingfor post op pain. Doc came after 9 hours wait (it's a public holiday here) and said she'd just give a sleeping tablet so I could try to sleep through the pain. That's not even cutting it. I'm just so tired and sore. Any tips? I'm trying my meditations and music...I don't know what else to do...

Re: Need help with pain management
I'm right there with ya'. I had extra pain while in the hospital. The nurse called the surgeon at 11:30 at night and asked for additional pain med. I had received dilauded through IV right after surgery and they didn't want to give me any more, but surgeon relented for one more dose. It helped get me through. After, I was able to take pain meds orally. Just keep bugging the nurse if you are in pain. A different time, I had rotater cuff surgery, and the nurse didn't want to call the Dr to get me different pain med, but I kept after her until it happened. Sometimes, they have to try a different pain med, until one works. Just keep informing the nurse on your pain.

Re: Need help with pain management
I keep trying but the nurses are arguing that the doctor has already written me up for something (endone) and then when the doc came she had no idea what to do outside of the sleeping tab. I just want to go home.

Re: Need help with pain management
Thx for your support thru that first terrible night post op. Day 2 was better controlled thanks to some very proactive nurses who managed to get doctors to do proper pain management (LOVE my nurses!) And to top it off my wonderful friend who treats me with Shiatsu and acupuncture cane to visit me this evening! She gave me a gentle treatment (non needle) which really helped - fell immediately into deep sleep for a number of hours! So lucky me. Hope other sisters doing well today.
