A few questions??

Hello!

I had a supracervical abdominal hysterectomy on Tuesday and have a few questions.

Is it normal to have a bunch of numb areas all around the incision and your belly? It's the weirdest feeling!

I've had some minor spotting after the surgery, even though all he did in there was sew up my cervix. Is this ok?

My vision has been very blurry, to the point where I couldn't see the television over me until today. It's improved a bit, but I'm seeing spots of color and almost feel as though I'm having tunnel vision. What's going on?

I too am experiencing headaches, and I'm having major sweats and can't decide if I'm hot or cold. The doctor left my ovaries, but removed some lesions from them, so I know he touched them, which he told me can cause them to fail. And everything tastes funny!

Thank you for your help!

Shannon

A few questions??

For your own peace of mind ring your DR...and check..a phone call won't hurt..
Good luck and hope that all is ok..

My tummy is still numb around the cut, and will be for some time, as the nerves have been cut, this will take time...but do follow up on your other problems..i was still in hospital until day 5..so take care..

A few questions??

I had all of that!
Everything --- numbness, vision, spotting, headaches, cold.
All of the hormonal type symptoms sorted out in about 3 weeks. Also it takes some time for the anaesthetic to get out of your system (vision, headaches).
I still have a couple numb spots but most of it's back to normal.

Likely your discharge papers don't mention anything about all this - they never seem to want to warn you about things. If you're really concerned, call your dr, but for me, I had all those things going on in early recovery.

A few questions??

No one mentioned any of this stuff, and you're right, the discharge stuff didn't either. I didn't think I'd have many hormonal issues since he only took my uterus, but I guess I was wrong. It's very annoying!

My incision is very itchy and tight-feeling today. I want to pull all the little strips of tape off!

My vision is a bit better today, also. It's still not perfect. I'm kind of glad that I'm not allowed to drive.

Thank you for your response!

The itchy, tight incision is normal. It just means that you are healing. The tightness is probably some internal swelling that has not quite gone away. I also have numbness. After my last c-section (7.5 years ago) I still had some numbness that never went away. It wasn't bothersome, just felt a little weird. Hope this helps!!
