Am I strange?

I've been reading over the pre-op post for a few weeks now and I've noticed a fairly consistent theme of fear. I will have TAH/BSO on Monday, May 3 and I can hardly wait. I'm so excited I can hardly sit still. Am I a "lone odd duck"?

I do have to say that this website has been a blessing. It's given me some insight as to what is going to be happening in the next few weeks and has brought to my attention issues that I hadn't thought about--you know, those little things that hit you and make you think "Why didn't I think of that?".

Looking forward to getting to know ya'll!

Am I strange?

Sunflowergal,

No, you are not strange. I, too, couldn't wait to get it over with. No more painful periods, PMS, cramps, etc., etc., etc. I did have moments when "reality" set in, but never to the extreme.

I don't regret my decision.

Good luck on Monday!

Am I strange?

Nope, I'm not afraid. I'm anxious and excited to have it over. I think I am at peace with my decision and ready to start feeling better. I'll be thinking of you Monday as I sit at my pre-op. I go Tuesday!

Am I strange?

I get excited sometimes too... but most of the time I'm scared out of my wits... but I have moments of excitement where I just can't wait for this to be over with!!

Am I strange?

I was frightened about the actual surgery until I found all of these great ladies now I can't wait for my "princess day" (May21) The day cannot come soon enough!

Doctor wanted to do it 5/06, but I had to wait until I am done with my finals on 5/13...if I hadn't worked so hard to get good grades, I would've skipped the finals in a heartbeat!

I know where you are coming from!

This bothers me

This post really bothers me. I am two years post op and from reading your posts I am not sure if any of you are aware of what is going to happen to you.

Have any of you thought about vaginal dryness/atrophy, sexual problems, body changes, possible bladder/bowel problems?

Don't just read these posts and think you are going to be great, that is not guaranteed, I am not taking away from the support here, what I am saying is that you may not have a great outcome.

All of you will trade something off for getting rid of your problem, just make sure you are going into this with your eyes wide open. The stakes can be quite high.

Am I strange?

I'm sorry that our posts offended you. I'm also sorry you've had problems since your recovery. I, however, have also lived through hell for years, as I'm sure most of these other women have. I am very excited and ready to have this over with. I'm excited because after years of pain and prolonged bleeding, there is an end in sight. I will never again suffer a 15 day long period that is so painful I can't even get out of bed some days. I don't think that any of us are going into this NOT knowing that there are going to be setbacks, but don't take away our hope, either....hope for a better quality of life. For some of us, that's all we've got.

Am I strange?

I may only be five months out from surgery, but the difference in pre and post surgery are like night and day.

I may have challenges in the future, who can predict? So far, I have had very few challenges. I know too, that I didn't have nearly the problems other sisters here have/had.

Right now, I'm grateful for the changes. All have been for the better.

Am I strange?

I am sorry if I upset you, that is not my intention.

Believe me I know what you mean about years of suffering, I suffered since I was 13 years old with periods from hell, fainting because of pain, recurrent complex cysts, endo and to top it all off a grand total of 10 surgeries.

All I am asking is please be aware things may not be as you planned after surgery, I wish someone had of taken me by the shoulders and given me a good shake and told me I would be trading off something that I was not willing to trade.

I thought I had my eyes open and in fact I was really squinting only looking for the positives. There are quite a few women who do suffer with sexual issues post op. I would suggest going to the post op board and searching orgasm and read both sides.

Again, please I am not trying to bring anyone down with this post, just trying to make women aware so perhaps they may be more prepared.
