does everyone feel this way...is it normal?
HI, I had a laporascopic hyst on Oct 7th. Only on pain meds for a few days- could not stand the loopiness or constipation. Now it is 10 days later and every morning I wake up and basically feel fine. A few hours into the days my belly area starts to feel swollen and the opening at vagina feels really swollen and feels like a tampon is in there. Plus I get feeling of period cramps. I guess i am confused because i was feeling better around day 5-8. Either I was more focused on incision/muscle pain and did't notice anything else or this is all new. Do most of you at 10 days feel this way?

Re: does everyone feel this way...is it normal?
I had a TAH two weeks ago.. I feel great in the morning and as the day goes on , my belly swells. Also, if I do too much it feels like something is trying to pass out of my vagina..almost like I didnt put a tampon in correctly. My doctor told me that its b/c I am doing too much during the day and need to relax.
I know we didnt have the same type of hyster...but hopefully I have helped in some way!
Feel better!!

Chadswife, You have definately made me feel better. A new friend of mine came by today, she had an abdominal hyst about 2 years ago and she did not recall the symptoms I was having. I'm not glad you have the same issues but certainly reassured to know that i am not alone. If i am doing too much now to cause this then I am basically going to have to sit on my tush all day for 6 weeks because i feel like i do not do much at all right now! thanks for listening and for your advice.

Hi (((october1)))
What you describe sounds normal to me. Swelling up as the day goes on is something that many of us experience after surgery. This can go on for months so, please do not get discouraged. Also, the feeling of having a tampon inserted is something that I have read on countless threads. You are experiencing the swelling that goes on with the vaginal tissues. Healing can feel like a roller coaster ride. The feeling of having a setback is a part of all of this. Also, as stitches dissolve, somtimes the body reacts with a new round of swelling. Take care!

Yes, I felt the same way. It is called swell belly. Mine didn't go away until my 5th month but at least it didn't hurt. It sounds very normal.

Re: does everyone feel this way...is it normal?
Thank you ladies for some confirmation. This site is incredible because you can ask anything. I just started using this site last week so i had not seen anything with my symptoms, thanks for letting me know it is normal. I did realize I was definately overdoing it so for the last couple of days i have really been resting a lot more and I have noticed that i do not have any of the "tampon" feeling. That is a relief when you are not sure if your insides are literally falling out. I actually made my husband look down there and he it did look swollen. The whole swelly belly will take some getting used to though! Thanks again!
