Hubby needs surg, too!

I found out last Thursday that I am having my hyster on the 27th. The same day - my husband found out he has a narrowing in one of his coronary arteries, and needs to have a Cardiac cath this week, too.

He is completely, emotionally "checked-out". I won't be able to help him through his procedure, nor will he have the emotional capability to help me with mine. He was insulted when I suggested I have a friend take me to the hospital. I'm just really at a loss here. I don't want to add to his burden, but I need some support.

Just writing that makes me feel like I'm a whiny brat!

Re: Hubby needs surg, too!

NO! You are not a whiny brat!!! The both of you are going to need support to get through this. Friends and family are going to have to be leaned on while you both are recovering. Sit him down and figure out a plan of who can do what to help both of you. He might not like the thought of someone stepping in as your support, but he might not have a choice in this (as you don't).

Pride has to go to the wayside right now along with the housework and day to day chores. Both of you have to focus on your health and recovery. You need to reach out to those close to you to help.

Re: Hubby needs surg, too!

I agree, time to call in all the friends and family. You'll both need support. At least if your surgery is before his cath he can feel better that one procedure is done, sounds like he wants to be there for you. Don't be shy asking for help. Get as much as you can done now, buy paper plates and premade food even, and settle in. Don't worry about a clean house, just work on healing. Best wishes for both your recoveries.
