Go home same day??

I've been reading posts and other people's experiences, and I haven't heard of one person going home the same day! My surgery is scheduled for the end of March, and my doctor said I'll go in that morning, go home that night. I'm having the da vinci done. Has anyone else done this? I trust my doctor completely - but if normally people stay at least one night, I want to know any tricks for staying comfortable at home the night of!

I was told the same i had the robot..I ended up stayin the night i think out of fear cuz i didnt want the pain to get oit of control..being 3 weeks post op today i think back n wonder if i would of been more comfortable at home. The hospital bed SUCKED! I felt like i couldn't move at all an it was so much work to try n get up out of it..That was my experience and everyone is different! Hope all goes well!

My hospital keeps all vaginal hysterectomy patients one night and all abdominal hysterectomies 2 nights.

I had daVinci and was supposed to go home the same day. However, the OR got behind on schedule and I did not have surgery until after 4pm. So, my doctor didn't want to send me home so late and after dark.

I think it was a blessing in disguise. Everyone is different and you don't know for sure what to expect. I am glad I ended up staying. I had a lot of early post-op pain and terrible nausea. I don't think I could have managed that well at home. It would have been more stressful at home b/c of not knowing for sure what might happen next. As bad as my nausea and pain were that night, I might have ended up back at the hospital anyway. I was certainly ready to get out of there by lunch the next day.
