7 days post-op (LSH)....still having pain in abdomon...is this ok?

I guess I just don't know what to expect - I still have pain in my abdomon..almost like period cramping...and then also, not on, but near the largest incision...it's like the muscle is tearing around it when i move, walk, roll over - it even cramps up when i talk too much - lol....

It is definately getting better every day...and maybe i am just being impatient.....but i just wanted to make sure this is normal. I find myself waking up many times each night.....from dreams, in which i am having the aching...how wierd.....

Re: 7 days post-op (LSH)....still having pain in abdomon...is this ok?

I had the exact same symptoms & it's part of the healing. You probably have stitching internally which is healing & you will be bruised. Think of how long a bruise on your skin takes to heal. Your body will take time to recover from traumatic surgery. Every time I moved a certain way I felt like I was tearing something. I ended up taking a motrin before going to sleep which helped. Now in my third week, it's so much better, I can move much more easily although I still get tired & crampy if I move around too much. I made a decision for myself to limit my painkillers early on as long as it was tolerable because it allowed my body to tell me when to stop which for me is a good thing. I tend to push myself & have found this recovery time is a lesson in disciplining myself to relax & not feel like there's 1000 things to do. Your mind becomes ready to move on much faster than your body.

Hi.. my worst week for that "achy crampiness" was week 3 actually. It's below both lower side incisions in the groin area. Feels alot like a ligament pulling, so I assume its the stitches. I still get that feeling when I'm being a bit active so I take it as my body saying "hey, your still healing, you can't play wonder woman yet" =)

coughing and sneezing really really bites!!! LOL!!!! I sneezed once on day three...and it WILL NOT happen again!!!

I think I am just so aware of it all right now and looking too hard at every detail of this....my dad told me last night that i need to 'chill out' and just let myself heal!!

Sneezing & coughing were the worst! I found it helpful to bend a little & hold my hands there or a pillow (if you can get one fast enough) in front of my abdomen when I had to do either. One of the hospital nurses told me getting stomach sick after a hyst was hell. I made a mental note NOT to do that...

Re: 7 days post-op (LSH)....still having pain in abdomon...is this ok?

It seems that each day is just a little different from the one before. I had a couple of days previous to today where I hardly had much pain. Then I needed something for pain in the evening.
Today when I woke, I had pain. Things on the left side of abdomen felt sort of tight and pulling. Crampiness in abdomen. I finally gave up at noon and took at pain pill. Much better!
This seems to be such a slow process, for the healing inside to be accomplished.
