I'm Back from the Castle!

I am finally home after a 5 day hospital stay after TAH with partial BSO and extensive tissure repair due to adhesions. I got to keep my right ovary. The surgery took 2 hours 45 minutes.

Everything went great. I was suprised. I had a little fever 3 days post op but my doc got everything under control.

Today is my second day home. I slept great, after I took a sleeping pill. Before I finally took the pill, I had terrible nighmares. To my suprise, my DH has been a blessing!

I got home around 3 pm yesterday. I visited with my sons, 10 and 6, and then headed off to the princess lounge about 5 pm. My Dh came to tuck me in with my pain meds, a bowl of chicken noodle soup, a big glass of water, 2 gasX, and my cell phone. He was worried he wouldn't be able to here me while he was in the den. All I had to do if I needed him was to hit send twice and he was running!

I woke up at 10 pm after having a crying fit from my nightmares. He comforted me, tucked me back in bed with my sleeping pill and pain meds. He woke me at 1 am with my ibuprofen, and then again at 3 with more pain meds and a PB sandwich so I wouldn't get a sick tummy. I can't believe how great he is doing.

Well, it almost time to take meds and return to bed. I will keep you posted as time goes on.

Thanks to you all for all your help and support!

I'm Back from the Castle!

Glad your home and I wish you a easy and quick recovery. I had surgery 1 1/2 years ago for reflux and gallbladder. Two surgeries about a month apart. For the first surgery I had horrible nightmares from the narcotics. They were weird dreams but they totally freaked me out. My kitchen turned into the produce department and the fruits and vegatables were singing. You would think that would be fun but it wasn't for me. I stopped taking the pain meds after the 2nd night. Granted I did okay on ibuprophen. That was the end of the dreams. After the gallbladder surgery I had back to back bad dreams the 2nd night again. I stopped the narcotics and they went away. I have a concern for my upcoming TLH but I will deal. Just know meds do weird things to our bodies and our minds. Hopefully you will be able to cut back or stop your meds soon. I do not believe in suffering so I will take the pain meds as long as I need them.

Wishing you a peaceful night/day sleep.

I'm Back from the Castle!

Sherri's dream has me giggling here. I had some hallucinations when I was on demerol after a gallbladder surgury and I still remember how scary they were.

Aside from that- I'm SO glad that you're doing so well and that you're getting such attentive 'service' at home. Those of us with supportive husbands are truly blessed, aren't we?

Keep letting him care for you and I'll keep letting mine care for me. This will ensure that we'll be healthy enough to care for them when the time comes.

Congratulations on the successful outcome, and I hope for you a continued uneventful recovery.

I'm Back from the Castle!

One of my dreams was that a dam had broken and was flooding my town and I couldn't find my family. The other was that I had a someone breaking into my home. Me and my kids got out but they were chasing us in the dark!

On a funny note, my DH said to me this morning after I woke up that I needed to rest and take care of his "playground"! Funny how a man thinks!

My sons, 10 and 6, haven't made a sound since I have been home. NO fussing or fighting at all!

This is the life!
