Week 4 post op question about incision
Had my abdominal hysterectomy on Feb 4th...so far recovery has been pretty normal(from what Ive been told).
Have two quick questions/concerns...
Still have some vaginal discharge with foul odor, and have not yet passed vaginal cuff stitches.(wearing pads for this long has made me horribly irritated around the vaginal opening..i use external yeast cream to numb and cool it )
Also,my incision is healing well except for one area about a centimeter long.It remains white-ish green and has been this way for over a week.It doesnt get better or worse, just seems to stay the same. I put neosporin on regularly and cover with a very thin panty liner and then sometimes the belly band.
My skin is so hyper-sensitive that i need something covering the incision still.Hoping the nerves settle down soon!
Is there anything Ive stated that doesnt sound 'normal'?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Week 4 post op question about incision
I had the same surgery three months ago. I had glue for incision and the area where my drain was at healed very slowly after it was pulled out. I wore the binder 24/7 for the first 5 weeks, except showers and some time right after to let everything get air. I also covered the incision anywhere that rubbed on my waist line with paper tape, and a gauze pad in the one area, after I quit using the binder. I never had any vaginal odor and only a slight discharge the first few days.
I think I would call and check, the nurse maybe able to answer you better. Good luck!

Re: Week 4 post op question about incision
Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention that I had a vertical incision which was closed with staples and no drain.People have told me that staples can cause their own set of delays in healing.I plan on calling my Dr in the morning to ask them about the discharge...I havent stopped having discharge since a week after surgery.
