8 Days Away...

Well, I am 8 days away from my LAVH w/ possible BSO. I am not as scared as I was last week, but this still isn't something I would put on my "Top 10 Things To Do" list, either. Had all my labs drawn yesterday, chest x ray last week. Meet with the anesthesiologist who does the clearance. He said that even with the asthma and a mild heart situation (SVT) he thinks that I am at low risk for anesthetic complications. He said that the reality is I should be more concerned with the risks of the surgery itself and possible risks such as DVT (gee, thanks for making me feel sooo secure)! Went out with dh Sunday and picked up a pretty PJ set (baggy top and bottoms) and a comfy pair of non-skid slippers. The only issue now is that I am dealing with an upper respiratory infection (I think it is just a cold). Nevertheless, I am congested, coughing, runny nose, sore throat - you know, all the lovely things that go along with a virus this time of year. Praying that I will be cleared up at least a few days prior to surgery. I have been so worked pup for such a long time, I don't want to have to reschedule again. Thanks for all of the great advise. I talk to my lady friends, but it is hard for them to have any insight when they haven't experienced this surgery. Good luck to everyone!

Have you had other surgeries before? If so how did you heart handle it? And how where you diagnosed with SVT? You go in the day I do my pre-op, I will be keeping you in my thoughts! how do you get through your SVT spells, i am not use to mine yet and they scare me and make me dizzy and light headed.

8 Days Away...

When I get an episode I feel my heart pounding. Sometimes my chest hurts, and I get a bit breathless and light headed. I have had two lap/d&c's in the past, but the last operation I had was 17 years ago. I didn''t really have any issues after the last surgery except for really bad pains in my left shoulder/chest/neck area from the co2.

April 4 Here Too

Our surgery dates are the same. Most of the time I practice lots of positive self talk and think about all the women who have said they feel so much better. Then at times the fear is overwelming. I check this site several times a day and it helps to know other are going through the same thing. Good luck for a speedy recovery.

8 Days Away...

I think sometimes that we psych ourselves up so much that we sometimes burn the fear out - at least a bit. I only know that I am tired of being in chronic pain all the time and bleeding thru my clothes every month for nine days. I am believing for a safe surgery, speedy recovery and a complication free post op and life. :0) I pray the same for all of you here.

8 Days Away...

I agree, I am so tired of just everything. I stained my bed 4 pairs of underware and pants plus the couch, computer chair and the seat in my SUV last period. I have to sit on a towel anywhere in my house while on my period and I still bleed thru. I have had to run out of stores and movies and being anemic isn't fun either. lets not even mention the pain.

Praying that everything goes well...

Lori,

Sorry to hear that you've come down with some sort of respiratory crud. Have you called your doc and described your symptoms? They may want to prescribe something that will help you get over it sooner.

I've been so paranoid about catching something. So far, so good, but pollen is horrible here. I've been taking my Zyrtec daily, trying to fend off anything. Tomorrow is my big day!

Take care, and post to let us know how you're doing.

God Bless!

I am praying you have an uneventful surgery. I have not called the doc. I do not like to take plain aspirin, let alone a Rx. for a cold. I have been doing pretty good as far as the anxiety goes. The only thing that is still bothering me is the rare possibility of a gas embolism from the CO2 they use. I know that one way or another, though, everything will work out. Good Luck tomorrow. Get a good nite's sleep (or at least try to)! :0) Let me know how you do.
