Anyone taking medication that works?

Has anyone been on the medication Prometrium? My Dr. put me on this 3 months ago. The first month I took two pills a day for 5 days. This helped me to shed the lining of my uterus and the last two months I just take it the first 10 days of the month. After the pills I will have a period. It's to get my uterus to shed the complete lining instead of portions of it. It worked great last month, I started my period about day 5 into the medicine but this month nothing so far and I have one pill to go. I don't feel like it's coming as I did before.

I go back to the Dr. late next week and will discuss other options or we decide to continue to do this. It's weird cause I had made up my mind to just get everything taken care of and then the pills seemed to work and a month later things are not working again. BC pills were another option that we've tried and I very moody and get many headaches and my family can't tolerate me with them.

Does anyone else have the ups and downs about everything like I do? I tend to talk myself into things and then out of things again.

Does anyone know the long term effects of this medication? I'm 44 and Dr. say it could be age 51 before I go through the change.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Anyone taking medication that works?

Hi anothersister

I found some articles from our resource section about prometrium. It is natural progesterone (different than progestin) and is used for treatment in women with different female related problems. I had a hysterectomy for endometriosis and I currently use progesterone cream to help keep any possible endo from returning.

It is very normal to have up and down feelings about the best treatment options available. It is usually a good idea to get a second or third opinion from another doctor to make sure that you have discussed every option aavilable so you can make an informed decision.
