1 Week Post Surgery!

Ann,
I am 4 days out of surgery and have had no bleeding or discharge at all. On the day after surgery I told my dr. and she said to gather up all the tampons and pads, tie them with a pretty ribbon and give them to a friend not as lucky as I am. I'm feeling ok, still nap and read and really taking it easy. Bored to tears, why didn't I take up knitting or scrapbooking or something?! Good luck to you.

Hi Ms b ,

lol - great idea, and its fab not to have to worry or bother about tampons etc...
Glad to hear your taking things easy - and hey, why not take up knitting in wk 3 and scrapbooks wk4!! Before surgery I intended getting the boxes of photos from the attic so's I could sort them into albums post op but needless to say haven't got round to it yet .

Take care

1 Week Post Surgery!

I love this site! Although I must admit when reading the posts it hurts because I keep laughing out loud! I am post-op one week and so far have been doing very well. I have good days where I feel great and the next day I'm down for the count. I'm so ready to get back to normal activities but I just tell myself to take it easy and let Mother Nature do her thing. I do have some questions though that I hope can be answered. My doctor told me to expect some drainage, which I am, but there's an odor issue and it's bothering me. Is this normal? Also, can anyone recommend a good over-the-counter pain med? I've taken my last prescription one, only taking them every 7 to 9 hours, and I definitely don't want to be without some good meds, but don't want to continue with the prescription ones.

Thanks for any replies I might get to this. Hope all the Sisters are doing well.

Hi Sadiebug ,
Good to hear you're doing well - it is hard on 'good' days not to do anything. You feel so good and raring to go but if you only do as advised you'll continue to get better and better and 'normal activivites' will resume eventually . As I've read on this site over and over again - 'remember to pamper the princess' and 'you only heal once' - all good advice.
As to the odour - there is a thread on this site on that very subject . I think if you go into Message Board (shown on left hand side of page) you'll get some 'shared experiences' and advice.
Re Pain Meds, I'm just taking paracetamol when required.

Take Care

Hi Sadiebug,
Isn't it amazing how guilty we feel about pampering ourselves? What is up with that? For pain I am taking Alleve. They gave it to me at the surgery center and it worked well. The nurse said it was supposed to help with adhesions also. The only way I am staying quiet is the new Harry Potter book. It really is great. I had a lsh so my recovery period is supposed to be quick, that is only if I'm a good girl and let myself heal! Hope you are being good to yourself and this site helps, I know it is a lifesaver for me.
