Terrified

Hi, I am 41 years old and scheduled to have a total Hyst. June 12th.
Reasons are enlarged ovary, cysts on left ovary and one 2 milimeter solid mass there...also have several fibroids in uterous the largest one measuring 4 by 6 centimeters.
AND, the tumor marker test came back slightly elevated. The Dr. said normal CA125 test range is from 0-35...mine is at 42...has anyone had these things all going on?

Yes, I did

Hi! I had my TAH/BSO (cervex also removed, along with fibroid over 2-lbs) on May 16, 2006.

On March 28, 2006, I had my first major surgery, Dr was going to remove an ovary w/large cyst by laparoscopic procedure. When she got in, what all the ultrasounds showed as a golf ball sized fibroid turned out to be way bigger (the "trunk" was golf ball sized and my fibroid was growing out behind the uterus and wedged down on my spine & bowel). Dr then only drained cyst on ovary, and took several pictures. I then was scheduled (exactly 7 weeks later)for EVERYTHING to be removed. My CA-125 was 81. Anyway...I am 2-weeks post-op (today) and doing pretty good. Also, all the pathology reports came back benign (thank you God!)

Please don't worry. It is not that bad! You will get pain meds and with those, it is able to be managed (discomfort is felt, not so much "pain"). The day AFTER surgery...my back pain (I've had probably over 10-years) was GONE! I would not go back, for anything! I am an advocate now (obviously only if surgery is necessary). If you want to ask any questions, you can send a private message to me. Good luck! I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hi Dimples, your story sounds alot like mine. I am scheduled for surgery on June 13th and am both scared and excited to get all these womanly problems over with! My elevated CA levels have not been explained yet, so I will feel better when the pathology report comes back. I understand your anxiety and be assured you are not alone. Blessings to you on your upcoming surgery.

Giggles, I too am filled with the mixed feelings...one part of me is ready, but the more I think, the more afraid I become. I hope yours goes smoothly!
And SPRING 506...Thank you for sharing, you explained alot. I've had problems with lower back pain, heartburn, I wonder if some of that could be related to a larger Fibroid? Hmmm.
Anyway, I am so happy that your test came back benign!
