Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: Still walking very slowly

I had read on hystersisters a lady had bought a walking stick to go out for walks and so thought that was a good idea. So after my surgery and until I felt steady and less dizzy I used a walking stick which help when getting up any steps and gave me confidence walking by myself if outside. I also wore a binder and some gentle support pants. The binder and pants for me helped so much and I only stopped wearing my binder around 10-12 weeks and now only put it on from time to time when my tummy might need extra support.

I forgot all about having the cane! It really helped me get around too.
Especially getting up and down the stairs outside our house.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: Still walking very slowly

I'm glad to read this. I'm 3 weeks tomorrow and can potter around my apartment and make it slowly down and up the 2 flights of stairs to collect my post - that leaves me pretty much exhausted. I get up regularly to stretch a bit as sitting down makes me feel like I'm healing in this position! I'm incredibly conscious of not doing too much, but trying to do enough. I feel like now I've reached the stage where I need to push myself more as the lack of energy is probably a result of not using enough and it's becoming a vicious circle.
I'm going out today with my mum and will walk around a little more, and are working towards getting to my local park by Thursday with my neighbour. I feel I should make more use of walking cause on the whole it isn't that painful. Sitting down and then getting up hurts, bending over really hurts! Walking can only help I think, but I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one at this point in their recovery that is struggling with any kind of distance

Its been 3 weeks for me today. I had a TAH. I just stopped shuffling a week ago. Now I'm walking slow (slight upgrade). So far this is normal. Don't worry, we all heal a little differently. Soon you will upgrade from that shuffle and start to loosen up a bit. :-)
