What To Bring To Castle

I've read that alot of you just wore the hospital gown that was given to you instead of your own nightgown. That makes sense, but what other things are good to bring to castle?

what to take to the castle

I am taking baby wipes, tissues, lip balm, hand cream, and basic toiletries with me to the castle.

Oh yeh....... I am also going to take some little bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I can remember past times being in hospital and washing my hair made me feel sooooo good.

I know other LIW have suggested just using the hospital gown, but I am taking my own jammies cause I know I will feel far more comfortable in them than the gown. And I think if you are feeling good, it will help big time with recovery.

Good luck with your surgery!!!

What To Bring To Castle

Welcome! I hope you find as much comfort and support from this site as I have. I also am a newbie, don't even have my date set as yet.
I have compiled a list of things I will take to the castle. This was based on suggestions from the Hyster Sisters book I ordered from this site, suggestions from previous posts, and personal experiences in the " castle ".
I won't list the usual items, such as shampoo, toothpaste, etc.
Outfit to go home in. I decided to bring a comfy night shirt, bathrobe, oversized cotton briefs, and slippers.
Some kind of sip cup with an easy to use cover... they give you a small paper cup with a straw... wasn't easy.
Fanny pack to fasten to the bed rail to keep things close at hand.
Chap stick
Dry teeth cleaners to freshen mouth when I can't get up.
Note pad, pen, phone numbers, paper back book, puzzle book, magazines.
A portable C.D. player with a continuos play mode, extra batteries, and favorite music, along with relaxation C.D.s. I rarely could sleep while in there, partly due to noise. I thought maybe the headphones would keep some of that out... some recommend ear plugs, but I prefer the music.
My adhesive sanitary pads ( they gave me granny pads that needed a belt, but no belt... ? ) I hear they are great to protect undies from incision drainage, too.
My small soft tummy pillow. I will have my bed pillow and favorite throw in the car in case I want it... DH can bring it up.
Personally, I am allergic to MSG. So I have learned to bring in my own cans of chicken broth, ceramic mug, flavored coffee creamers ( the kind individually packaged in little vials that need no refrigeration ) a spoon, instant sugar free cocoa and tea bags.
My glasses and their case. Playing cards.
Wet wipes... I don't go any where without them, ha ha.
I am sure I will change some of these, add or delete, but I am giving it a lot of thought.

Best wishes to you,
Nancy

What To Bring To Castle

I took ear plugs with me and it was a great idea at night.

Used the hospital gowns in case I got them messy. Worked fine.
