I'm home-surgery 1/22
I got home on thursday, the hospital was okay not the greatest, had a male nurse, I didn't really like that under the circumstances. I had a stryker pump which was wonderful until they took it out!! Right before I went home. I had a abd total hist. The pain is pretty bad, but I will live. Trying to adjust to the hormones. The gaspains are the worst. I have a question! Why is my hair falling out?? Handfuls!! I wil write more when I'm more recovered.
Glad to be home.

Joan. Welcome home. I had some hair loss right after surgery - figured it was due to anest. Use search icon at the top and search by keywords "hair loss" in the post op section fo pull down...that will give you some additional posts to read.
REST, REST, REST...drink LOTS of water. I didn't have gas every day..but when I did it hurt Some women use gas x and it seems to help. In the meantime stay away from carbonated drinks and gasy foods - drinking from straws will cause gas too (learned that from nurse at hospital).

Sorry you're hurting so badly! =( I just wanted to comment on the hair loss. It's very normal for you to lose hair after having general anethesia. I lost a bit of hair after my lap surgery in October and it is just now starting to fill back in. I'm sure I'll lose even more with this surgery, but it does grow back. It's mostly around the "bangs" area. It shouldn't be coming out in gobfulls, though. But, everyone is different. I hope you start to feel better ASAP! Be sure to drink LOTS of fluids and rest!! Ask your doctor if you can take a multivitamin with extra Vit. C. It supposedly helps with healing and remember, the more fluids you drink, the faster you'll flush out all the meds that were administered to you....
