Still have my ovaries and ovulation is a thorn in my side after hysterectomy
I still have my ovaries for the purposes of hormones but I still ovulate, the pain is not excruciating but very uncomfortable. I don't remember it really bothering me before the surgery.

Re: Still have my ovaries and ovulation is a thorn in my side after hysterectomy
It may get better over time. For the first few months after my TAH, ovulation and other lovely pre-menstrual symptoms seemed worse than they had been before surgery. Fierce twinge, and incredibly sore chest as opposed to the normal bit of a stitch in my side and somewhat sore chest.
I'm approaching seven months out now, and things have settled down considerably. I can't recall the last ovulation twinge I had.

I agree, my ovulation was quite painful a few months post op, even had a burst cyst. I'm now 9 months post op and it is better, but still stronger than pre op.

Re: Still have my ovaries and ovulation is a thorn in my side after hysterectomy
The Dr. also checked my hormone levels before surgery and said they were fine, but I have hot flashes that make my head feel like it's on fire and my face gets flush and clammy. My emotions are very touchy and I am tired. I never have been a late sleeper but I find myself sleeping until lunch when I'm not working or having to get up to be somewhere.

Re: Still have my ovaries and ovulation is a thorn in my side after hysterectomy
I'm so happy to read this post and responses and know I'm not alone. I'm 2.5 weeks TVH post op and I have been having bad cramping on my left lower pelvic side since my surgery. I had an ultrasound last week since the pain was so bad and it is my ovaries. My doc said the pain is due to the ovaries trying to adjust and move with the cervix/uterus being gone. She said it will happen during my ovulation/normal period time until my body fully adjusts. I'm also hoping this pain goes away soon for all of us.
