I just had my surgery on Friday Aug 8th. I just had a normal bowel movement this morning. Its normal not to have one for the first few days cause of all the meds we were on in the hospital. Just be patient...it will come! Lol and when it does...it will hurt just a little. Whatever you do don't force it out...just let it come out on its own. Only here at hystersisters...can we comfortablly talk about these things and no one will judge us!! Lol 😀😁😇😇

Re: Recovery

It's very normal. I didn't have a movement until Day 3, but mostly Day 4. That is still ahead of schedule from the average. If you are hardly eating, that will be a factor. You are eating a lot of soft, watery food so that will be peed out. My doctor had me on Senokot for stool softening and Miralax mixed in prune juice. Others swear by Smooth Move tea. Your bowels are in "shock" from the surgery and these remedies will coax it along. I ate very little early on too, but try to get more substance down when you can like heartier soups.

Re: Recovery

Oh and one more thing...Your belly is gonna probably feel full while you are sitting on the toilet. That is normal too. Just don't strain or push.

Thank you for your promptly reply. I was so worried. I'm going to try and eat more solid food. I always feel so full. Especially when I seat in the bathroom.

You're welcome! I did too (and still get backed up some days). The remedies really helped me. Orange juice was also something that moved things along for me. Or a little swig of coffee. Once you go, you will feel so much better, but you aren't necessarily in harms way this early on. Heal quickly
