Feels like preparing for birth.

So, my kids are all 2 1/2 to 3 years apart, and my youngest is now 3. I had the Mirena put in 8 months ago and have felt pregnant ever since. My surgery is next month so I will have felt pregnant for 9 1/2 months by the time I go into the hospital for my planned surgery to rid myself of this fake baby.

I have freezer meals ready, house deep cleaned, people set up to take care of the kids and a 6-8 week recovery expected.

I packed my hospital bag today and it was so weird. I kept expecting to see nursing bras in it.

Does anyone else feel like this?

I don't have kids, but I do feel like I"m preparing for something huge like that. I'm trying to get stuff prepared around here...prepare my coworkers, as I'm the supervisor. I know I'll forget a million things as my medical leave officially starts Friday. I

That's exactly how I felt pre-surgery. I spent weeks "nesting" and cleaning my house and was nervous but looking forward to my surgery. I guess in a way it's like a re-birth....a new beginning of a happier, healthier you. I'm now 11 days post-op and while it's been a slow recovery, it's been well worth it. All the best for your upcoming surgery - everything will be fine

Re: Feels like preparing for birth.

I've never had kids, but I've done a lot of travelling. Usually before I go away on a long trip, I'll clean the apartment up, etc., so that I have a clean and well-stocked home waiting for me when I get back. And my travels have often involved having to head out early in the morning - to catch a plane, a bus, a train, a ferry.

So the morning of my hysterectomy, I hugged my cats, shouldered my backpack and headed out through the almost-deserted city streets at 6 AM to catch the bus to the city where I was having surgery. It's about a two-mile walk to the bus station. I kept thinking of other times I'd headed out early in the morning with my backpack, and I thought, okay, this is a new kind of journey. My hysterectomy is a journey.

Feels like preparing for birth.

My friend just had a baby yesterday, and I realized that I would be 1000% more freaked out right now if I was preparing for that!

So it's nice to "nest" for calm, selfish reasons

Hello. I just had my lapraoscopic hysterectomy yesterday and I'm already home! I do feel like I've had a baby. The stomach will be extended from the surgery and I kept waiting to pass blood clots. Once my catheter was removed 12 hours post op I was in better recovery mode.
You were very lucky to plan ahead with meals and babysitting. Mine was an emergency. We have children ages 11, 10, 8, 6, and almost 2. The hardest part is not picking up your youngest one!! Even though I have hands to help she still wants her momma. I had already been in pain a whole month before the surgery so she knew I had momma boo-boos.
Best of luck on your recovery.
