Re: myomectomy - Please help

I am 32 and was diagnosed with a HUGE fibroid in August. It grew like crazy very quickly and my uterus was the size of a 20 week pregnancy. I don’t have children and I want them someday so giving up my uterus wasn’t an option for me. I took shots for three months to shrink it down a little and had a bikini cut Myomectomy on December 9th.

I know that no matter what I say you’ll be scared, that’s natural. I just want to provide you with some hope and calm your fears a little if I can! I was terrified, I wasn’t sleeping prior to the surgery. I was so scared of something going wrong and losing my uterus. I was also scared of waking up in immense pain. Honestly, the fear prior to the surgery was WAY worse than the actual experience. With medication I found the pain to be tolerable and not as bad as I was expecting. The first few days are the toughest but once you’re past them it gets easier everyday!

I’m almost three months out now and I can’t believe how much better I feel. I have returned to my normal activities, working out almost daily, and I have my flat tummy back! My periods are normal again, I forgot what that was like! No regrets, I just wish I had done the surgery sooner. My quality of life has gotten so much better.
