Normal or UTI?

Hi all! I'm new here. Had an abdominal hyst with removal of one ovary on May 23rd so I'm still just post op. I've had a remarkable recovery for the most part and am getting around really well thank goodness. Here's my concern..

I've had quite a bit of pain upon urination pretty much since surgery (since they took the catheter out) but I remember having this as well after my 2 c-sect so I wasn't real concerned. Last night, I noticed some blood on the tissue paper (very, very minimal). I've also had it today as well. I called the Dr.s office and spoke with the nurse and we both agreed that it was probably due to me doing too much over the weekend.

About an hour ago, I'm noticing now pain in my back. This is not muscular pain but a deep, deep pain - which makes me think UTI (but I've never had one so I wouldn't know). I don't notice blood in my urine though. I've put a call into the nurse on call but I'm sure there's nothing they can do for me tonight.

Doesn't this sound like UTI or bladder infection? Or just normal "overdid it" syndrome? :-)

Normal or UTI?

This sounds like a kidney stone - I've had many. Blood in urine is a sure sign, and back pain is classic. Please call your doctor again!!

Called last night...

and talked to the nurse who called me in some antibiotics. I have taken 2 and think I'm starting to feel better so I think it was/is a UTI. I'm to call tomorrow if I'm not better. Thanks for the input!

Normal or UTI?

Definitely call your doctor anytime you have a concern as it is better for them to tell you it is part of your recovery than for there to be something serious going on. I am 4 weeks post-op and last week was feeling the same as you, which the doctor's office calling in antibiotics as I either have a bladder infection or UTI. I see my doctor tomorrow for my post-op appt and will find out for sure. Hoping you feel better now that you are on antibiotics
