Is sex different after surgery depending if the cervix is left or not?
I would like to know other opinions concerning this topic. I have heard a few comments concerning sex after surgery with/without the cervix, but I don't really feel I know enough to make an educated decision. I have heard that there is both a "uterine" orgasm and a "clitoral" orgasm. This is one of my biggest fears concerning this surgery. How will it affect me sexually post op? I am keeping my ovaries. Please help. Kim

I had a TAH 9 months ago and for me, sex is the same without the cervix as it was with it.

my two cents
I also have no cervix. I have had several "outercourse" experiences with very intense orgasms. Felt very natural. My Dh
and I were finally given the green light and I really couldn't feel
any difference, other than just being careful that first time. He said he didn't even notice or feel anything different. I did not have an orgasm that first time though. I think I was tense and worried about DH not feeling comfortable. I think communication is key. Good luck.. It does get better with lots of practice!

Although I don't orgasm during intercourse I can honestly say that since my surgery, with cervix removal, I am more sensitive in that area.
Other than that I've not noticed a difference and neither has my hubby.

Is sex different after surgery depending if the cervix is left or not?
I did not have the choice--my cervix had to go. I was very nervous about the whole thing. I'd read all the testimonials that said sex would not be any good--that I'd never again have an orgasm. Well, I'm pleased to announce that sex is every bit as good as it ever was! And I think most women experience the same thing. Sometimes it takes a little patience at first, but hang in there!
Good luck!

No difference
I have ** cervix or ovaries so it did not make any difference without them. The only thing that was different was that My vagina felt a little snug for my DH. He likes that as it felt like he is having sex with his wife who is a "virgin". What can I say?
Hope that I have helped here.

Thanks, ladies!!
Well, that is certainly good to hear!! I am having a LAVH, (keeping the ovaries) due to adenomyosis, boggy enlarged uterus, beginning prolapse, and cyst with heavy bleeding. So far, my emotions have not been too bad, just a few crying jags. I expect that. But, I am afraid of a few things. One is the post sex. I am also concerned that because of the large uterus he may unexpectedly have to do abdominal surgery, that he may go in and find an additonal, more serious condition, and/or,( because I have had heavy, but clear discharge since my Feb. uterine ablation ), an unexpected reason for the discharge that is of a major concern. I guess just a little apprehensive. He says the discharge is from the surgery, but considering the time that has lapsed in between, I find that almost incredible. I just don't want to wake up with any surprises. I am having an epidural. We have incredible sex now, I would hate to mess anything up with it! Keep me in your thoughts, and thanks again. Kim

Is sex different after surgery depending if the cervix is left or not?
I had my cervix removed and I feel a little different. The best part is there is no pain during or after intercourse as there was certain times of the month before. Other than that, things are just as good as before now. Dh says he doesnt notice any change.
I used to have the uterine orgasms from time to time but I have noticed clitoral and Graphenburg spot orgasms are just as good as before so no change or complaints here.

Is sex different after surgery depending if the cervix is left or not?
Hi- I had TAH/BSO- the abdominal surgery- my cervix is gone. I didn't anticipate any problems with sex because I never believed my cervix and uterus played a part for me. Everything works and feels great- no problems whatsoever. As an aside, at my 6 week checkup last week, my doctor said she was going to do an internal and to let her know if I had any pain or discomfort- it's the first time EVER I didn't have pain or discomfort during an exam! I started laughing because it truly felt like nothing!
Don't worry about this - just concern yourself with resting and following dr.'s orders during your recovery.
