Pre-cancer diag

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to drop a note and say how wonderful I think this site is. I've never joined a online group or posted a message to anything. I guess this "issue" was just so big for me that I had to have someone I could discuss it with that knew what I was going through. My friends are great and my DH is wonderful but ...

I was diag. with precancerous atypical cells last Thursday. I have had thickening uterus for several years and this is the first pap that showed anything like this. I have cried a river about this but the messages on this board have given me so much more information/reassurance/things to think about than I had before, I am truly grateful. Right now my surgery is tenatively scheduled for 4/21 but that is not definite. Thanks for all you do.

I definitely can relate to your situation. I recently had a TVH for the same reasons. They removed the uterus but was fortunate to keep my ovaries. I am very sympathetic to your situation. But believe that it is a good thing that the Dr. catches it very early. I totally am at ease with the choice I made and I know that you will be too. Being positive is 90% of the battle. Stay strong and you too will be relieved soon. jojo

Thanks JoJo,

According to my doctor, I need to have a TAH BSO (had to look that one up on the abbrevations page). Everything must go. It's really been a shock to the system. Out of my three sisters, two have had this done (fibroids) and one actually was opened up but the doctor decided not to do the hsterectomy. So I wasn't surprised that it was my turn; just by the precancer part. That's the scary part. I've read a lot of the messages on this board, some scary, some reassuring. The good thing is that I know now I'm not overreacting on this stuff.

Dear (((Aquarius1))), A warm welcome to hystersisters. I am so happy you are finding the site helpful and informative. As you have already seen, the women here are so wonderful, caring and eager to help each other. You will find so many Forums on this site. If you have not found these two items yet, as a new LIW you may want to check these out: Pre-Op Hints and the Post-Op Hints. You might also find some useful information in the Cancer Concerns Forum.
Please be sure to add your surgery date once it is firmed up so we can include you on the calendar and send you wishes, etc. before your operation. Please come back often with questions and/or just when you may need to vent or perhaps just want assurances from others who have "been there."
Many s and blessings, peggiesue
