Crazy question

OK here goes my DP is worried that without my cervix and the ligaments and all being cut, if I will still have control of my vaginal muscles. Will I be able to do kegels after the surgery or is that gone for the rest of my life. Like I said crazy question....

Re: Crazy question

Not crazy at all. I have full control, can do kegels, everything is the same. All that surgery stuff takes place "higher up" and didn't affect any ability to control my muscles.

Re: Crazy question

JadedOne79,

Not at all a crazy question. There are other 'supports' in the area. You will still be able to do kegels. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor about it.

Re: Crazy question

Wow that is a really good question that I don't know the answer to but would like to know. I was given the option of having a TVT (bladder sling) to deal with stress incontinence issues (e.g. when coughing, sneezing) (am only 43 and mostly associated when I have my period and worse since fibroids) but had decided not to go with something artificial in me and focus on kegels...however if after the hysterectomy they might not work as much I may have to re-think...Good question!

Re: Crazy question

I had the same concerns - and while the muscles were weak after surgery (I had my cervix removed) since there was an incision in them - they are just fine now. I can do keigels - I still am not quite where I was before surgery, but I've gotten lazy about doing them.
