pre op?

I don't know if I am having a hysterectomy or not. I won't know until I wake up from surgery. I was suppose to have biopsy tomorrow but fibroid tumor is putting too much pressure on kidneys and now I'm waiting to hear from the drs today about my All In One surgery which I'm suppose to have before Christmas. My mind went numb going to the pre-op appointment yesterday to find out it going to be different. I don't know what questions to ask at the next pre op.

I appreciate this site so much. Gives me strength.

Re: pre op?

The uncertainty has to be hard. I know some other ladies will come along who have been in your shoes but I just wanted to wish you well.

Hang in there!

Re: pre op?

Wow, I can't imagine how scared you must be! Not knowing is tough, so my hat is off to you for being so strong. If you don't want to share with your kids (which I understand), be sure to lean on a support system like this site. I'm new here but I have a feeling I'll need to as well!

Re: pre op?

Thankyou for taking the time to write. I felt a bit of a reprieve from surgery anxiety when it wasn't last friday and I had a "free" weekend. I want to know but I don't want to know.

How are you doing? Christmas feels different this year for me how about you?

I will tell the kids when I have more specific information.

Re: pre op?

Frosted,

Do you have an AIO surgery date yet? How are you feeling?

Honestly Christmas does feel different to me this year. Since my surgery is 4 days after Christmas I feel much more focused on that. I'm spending time reading this forum and reading another forum for interstitial cystitis instead of baking with my kids. I was diagnosed with IC at the same time they scheduled my hysterectomy.

My kids are too young to care. I told the 9 year old but he doesn't understand. He also lives with his dad so this won't affect him. The others who live with me are 3 and 18 months so they don't get it at all LOL...though it WILL affect them b/c they have to go stay with my sister for two weeks while I recover.

Re: pre op?

FrostedFlakes,

I feel your pain, sister.

I have a meeting with a surgeon on Dec 21st and may end up in surgery before Christmas, or NOT. Don't know until I get in there.

We're having to make a primary Christmas plan along with a Plan B. Same for New Year's. heh.

I can't seem to get into the Christmas spirit this year. I haven't even really decorated! Very unlike me. I've tried everything I can to get into it, but I feel very self-focused right now.

The funny part is that my teenagers and husband aren't really into the decorations or anything anyway, so no one has cared to notice.

I'm trying to give myself permission to feel what I feel, and do what I need to do. No matter how odd or off of normal it is!

Re: pre op?

Turtle,

I was suppose to have a D&C on 12/4 but the kidney dr said there could be no delay removing the tumor and I need to have the all - in - one surgery. I came home from that appointment nearly catatonic. Couldn't function, spaced out. Next day OB/GYN said surgery was going to be before Christmas and I haven't heard from then since! Then I decided to kick it in high gear and get things done while I could. That lasted a day. Because the next day I could barely move! LOL

Ever watch the old Santa Clause animated/claymation movie w/ Fred Astair? There's a song in there that says, "just put one foot in front of the other. And soon you'll be walking out the door"

Its going to be a different Christmas for us. But that doesn't mean bad.

I appreciate your response.

Re: pre op?

and I'm not liking having to live w/ Plan B either! I'm better with A plan and a list!

Today, I felt a brief glimmer of peace despite my best efforts to be anxious. I pray you get that glimmer.
