In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
Surgery scheduled for 7 AM Wednesday morning....I am a nervous wreck and I do not know why.. Well I know why, but I am surprised... I have had several surgeries in my lifetime including 2 c-sections, which are similar to this procedure.
I guess the BLIZZARD warning has me FREAKED right out. We are due to make the 1 hour drive in the middle of a blizzard. We are supposed to get 16+ inches in the next 24 hours. I get nervous enough in bad weather and driving, add this to it and you have the PERFECT STORM.. My hubby swears he will just grab the truck and throw it in 4 wheel drive and we will be off, but I foresee break-downs and all kinds of terrible things to mess up my scheduled surgery.
Where is my trust in God?? I know he will be with me through the surgery, can't he get me TO the surgery??? My mind is so scattered that I can't get 2 thoughts together. I have NO MOTIVATION to finish getting the house ready. I do have a great hubby and my 18 year old daughter has come back home for the month for the holidays and to help. All I think of is I need to pack my bag, I need to go buy Dog Food, I really should pay those bills. Better go stock up the house with groceries, but you know what??? My family is more than capable. I feel guilty, because my hubby is so busy with work and he has to worry about me. He is taking off the next 3 days and we have the weekend, then it goes to my daughter...
I should vacuum while I can, but I don't.. Why???
Let's hope I at least pack a bag or I will be coming home in a hospital gown...LOL Just jabbering, I am sure I will add to this as the day continues (:

Re: In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
Man, I so understand what you're feeling. I call it my schizo mode. I feel like I'm racing but I'm not going anywhere. It's so normal and even if you hadn't worried up until now, it's probably all falling in on you at once. It really will be okay though. Whether you get anything done today or not, won't matter in the end. I did so much before my surgery but realized it wouldn't have been a crisis if I hadn't. Yes, trust in God that he's been there every step of the way and he's not going to abandon you now. (((HUGS)))

So I decided I get most anxious at night so tonight around 7:00pm I will start my cleaning. LOL. I am having the same cut done hip to hip. I will be praying for us all that are going threw this tomorrow. My doc gave me Zanax to calm my nerves down for now.

Re: In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
Hang in there Michelle and Terigro1 - the waiting and worrying was definitely the worst part for me!
Michelle - any chance you can grab a hotel room close to the hospital and go ahead and leave tonight? Instead of feeling guilty about what you're not getting done tonight and that your "capable family" (your words) will have to do, feel blessed that you do have a "capable family" and people there to love you and worry about you. Footprints in the sand, eh?
Thoughts of comfort to all the princesses trying to make it through the "Eve Of ...." - will look for the good news posting in the post-op section soon!

You know what? Maybe it's fair that the night before you head to the castle you just chill out and relax.
Do something you find fun! Pamper yourself. Take a long bath. You've earned it.
My thoughts are with you.

Re: In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
My thoughts and prayers are with you ladies-I had mine done on 12/1, so I understand the nerves. I cried all the way from my house into the operating room. I was so glad when they pushed the drugs! And then it was over. Relax. Enjoy your families (although mine is more fun in a drug induced state...LOL!) And guess what? If you clean the house I can guarantee that it WILL get dirty again! Don't stress out over it! Take care of yourselves and let us know how you are!

Re: In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
Thanks Ladies.. I really appreciate to kind words. I am going to "request" firmly that hubby and I leave as soon as he gets home from work. He will be in at approx midnight and it will take at least 1 hour if not longer. I have to be there at 5 am so what is a few hours. If I have to wait in the waiting room at least I am there and that level of stress is gone. My hubby can sleep in my room, I requested private. It was only $41.00 more per night.
I feel like a crazy woman, with this strange fear of the travel, maybe it is misplaced fear. I have had "major" surgeries before and I know that you can come out the other end just fine and not remember a thing. I just want to get there........
I agree the housework will be here when I get home, actually it better not..... The house will get dirty again. I have my bag pretty much ready and I am going to take "the shower"...See everyone on the other side......

Re: In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
I'm with you there. My surgery is at 7:30 am tomorrow morning. We're currently in the throes of an unusual cold snap so I'm sure there'll be ice on the roads in the morning. I have to be at the hospital by 5:45 am so icy roads worry me.
I didn't get to request a room. I wonder if I should've done that.
See you on the other side!
edited to add that I cleaned house like a demon the past couple of days to try to distract myself. I even did the windows!

Re: In ? hours I will be in the OR.....
This must be the December 9th party club!
I have to be at the hospital at 545am and it snowed yesterday (it didn't stick, but the roads are icy). I DID NOT clean the house; I went to Knott's Berry Farm today after I did my post-op stuff.
My lovely insurance company has allowed me two glorious days of sleeplessness (in the hosp), so I'll be home Friday.
I seem to be calm (at the moment). I'm worried about the pain afterwards. I know I'm forgetting something (I always do).
Let's make a pact to come back to this thread and post when we all get home.
Good luck and safe driving to all and I'll see you back here ASAP.
Take care,
Karen
