Belly binder or no? Upcoming vaginal Hysterectomy 9/29

I am preparing for my upcoming vaginal hysterectomy. I have seen lots of recommendations for a belly binder. Since my hysterectomy will be vaginal and I won't have an abdominal incision, will a belly binder be helpful/necessary?

I didn't buy one before surgery, I ended up buying one at the time I returned to work, 6 1/2 weeks, to help support with all the sitting and the pressure it put on muscles and the commute to work. I used it at work for about 3 weeks and then on and off until 12 weeks.

A belly binder is a personal preference. I had a total abdominal surgery with vertical 6-inch incision and never felt I needed one. Some women swear by them. So it is really your call - but ask your doctor first if you decide to get one to make sure it is okay.
