Different Drug

I was taking Ambien 10-20mg/ night for a long time, and then my insurance stopped covering it so I changed meds to Restoril (Temazepam) and it comes in two different dosages 15 or 30 mg. It works differently than Ambien as it takes a few hours to kick in, but unlike Ambien you do not have that window of time where you must fall asleep in order for it to work. I would say I would take it at around 10 PM and be asleep somewhere in the next 2 hours. There are other meds that they can use like halcion, but it is most commonly used as a pre-med like valium for dental and other surgical work so there are many side-effects that can last into the day with them, and with your son I think you probably need to be alert. Well, I hope you have better days soon! I was a day sleeper after surgery and a night time napper hopefully the doctor works everything out for you...

In the case of your other post with pain meds. I am a chronic pain patient due to my endometriosis (hopefully gone now!!!), and I am now a little past three weeks and still needing meds, but I also have had a hematoma...

Best of Luck Tomorrow....I have dealt with my fair share of docs even at my age!

Ambien isn't working, what has worked for you?

I tried the Ambien and it did not work for me and I also did and said things that I don't remember. My doctor prescribed Restoril for me also. It works great for me and I haven't had a problem sleeping on the nights that I take it. Good luck to you! It amazes me how awful you can feel when you don't get enough sleep.
