3 months out n feeling better than ever:)

Well just decided to post bc when I came to this site before n immediately after surgery....it was very overwhelming...to the point to where I was expecting my life n personality to be gone at any time...I think it an awesome resource to find other women going through the same unimaginable surgical menopause....but most posts are from those experiencing negative n horrible side effects after surgery....I just wanted to share my personal experience....I am 33 and almost 4 months post oopherectomy...and on prempro and feeling better than ever...I just figure that my one ovary had not been working well over past year...so for me, the constant bloating and pain from recurring chats is finally gone...no night sweats...sex is even better due to no more pain...and I am still me. I just want women to go into surgery with a positive attitude n positive expectations....because you can be normal and feel better after surgery.. I know I was scared to death of the surgery after reading most posts. I just hope this can be of comfort to at least one woman.

Glad you're feeling so well! Hopefully your replacement will continue to work for you. I AM surprised that your Dr. would use PremPro for your replacement considering the findings from the Women's Health Initiative.

Re: 3 months out n feeling better than ever:)

Thanks. Yes...was very concerened at first, but after reading report and.even seeing newer publishings ten years later fromABC news reports....it appears that the results were overgeneralized to All menopausal women, while the study focused on women who were taking these hormones ten years beyond natural menopause age....when our bodies are not naturally producing these hormones. I am only 33, so my body would normally be producing the hormones in prempro had I not had my ovaries removed. I also do not want to risk bone loss by.not using estrogen. I do realize the risks.of long term use later in life and possibly now, but I also realize that my body needs these hormones at my age....I have looked.into bioidenticals...ect...and will look into using, if my hormone stops working well....but I am happy with it for now.

I felt great too for the first 8 months after my surgery..I was so happy..then, almost overnight, everything changed. My hormones didnt work the same anymore and it has been a nightmare ever since to get them balanced. My doctor warned me around the first year, when things start to change. Even now, 6 years later, my hormone needs are still changing all the time. I hope you continue to feel great though.

Thanks! I am taking it one day at a time. I guess I really did not realize how bad I was feeling emotionally, physically...night sweats, mood swings,ect...over the past 1 to 2 years while I was struggling to keep my little piece of ovary in., but huge cyst finally reoccured and it had to be removed...so now I can finally go through a day without that nagging dull aching feeling and my emotions are so much more balanced and "even".

Great news! I'm at 11 days now and I crave the good posts. I am a positive minded gal and my recovery so far is great. I almost feel guilty sometimes reading how rough a time others are having.
I'm taking the vivelle dot right now and really the only thing I worry a little about is what life after the dot will be like lol.
I'm hoping my cockeyed optimist view in life will get me through that challenge too! 45yrs old btw

Yes agree! Hope you continue to feel great. I have always been a positve person...and my mom went through total hyster at age 22 and told me it was nothing for her and she had had no problems since her surgery and also got comfort from s coworker before my surgery who said she would have done the surgery years earlier and cut out the pain if she would have known how good she was gonna feel.......so wanted people to know that there are positive situations out there...just depends on your body and how it responds, along with your attitude going into surgery

Re: 3 months out n feeling better than ever:)

I have found it kind of funny that people have tried telling me how I should have kept this or that and I'm like "really? Well they are gone noe so why are we even still debating the should have shouldn'ts lol! They are gone. Deal with it hahahaha!"

Still feeling good. Taking it very easy and allowing my body to heal. Bought a purple tutu (square dancing type thing lol) at our thrift store yesterday. Put on my sparkly red Halloween devil horns and posted the pic on my Facebook hahahahaha. This will not keep my sense of humor down at all lol!!!
