Post Surgury - No Lymph Node Involvement

Hi Ladies:

I had my radical hysterectomy on 11/11. The surgury took 7 hours!!!! I had alot of scar tissue that the doctor removed. My lymph nodes went to pathogist while I was in surgury and all came back clean. They removed my uterious, cervix and fallopian tubes, tissue surrounding the cervix and a bit of the upper portion of my vagina. DR says that it looked to be contained within the cervix and would be surprised if they pathology shows anything different. I am keeping my fingers crossed though and would love to be done now.

Anyway, I came home with the foley catheder and I really hate it!!!! I am going to the doctor on monday 11/17 to try to have it removed. They say you feel much better once the gas starts to leave your body and you can have a bowel movement but I feel like I am on a leash dragging this catheder around.

Good news Toni! Its nice that they left your ovaries, so you won't have to go through early menopause!

Now REST and HEAL. No heavy lifting - no vacuuming, no sweeping, no laundry... Take walks when you can (that really helped me, and it also helps get gas and such 'moving' along!)

Take care!

What great news and what a tremendous relief it must be to get such a good report. The other great relief is when gas is finally passed. I had to stay in the hospital until I mastered that feat, with help from a warm prune juice cocktail that a nursing assistant would prepare for me. Take Wolfgang's advice to rest and walk.

I also had to come home with the catheter and know what a hassle it is. Hopefully, you'll get it out tomorrow -- you'll feel so much better. And, hopefully, you won't need any further treatment!!

Thanks ladies:

Today is cathader removal day, I am going to do everything possible to come home wireless :-). I am surprised at how much the body changes everyday post op. It is truely amazing what our bodies can do. My husband is yelling at me because he says I am not acting like a person who just had major surgury. He said "You just grab your bag and you go all day" (referring to my urine bag). .. I thought that was so funny I couldn't stop laughing . now Lauging hurts and I knew then that I was a person who just had major surgury LOL.

I don't expect the pathology report to be in yet but if I get this thing out then today is a good day.

Well off to the shower for me. Please cross your fingers for me.

Toni
