LSH- Kept Ovaries and Cervix - Mood Swings

I had surgery on 11/20, now I am having horrible mood swings and a lot of tears for no reason. I feel great otherwise. Any suggestions?

Re: LSH- Kept Ovaries and Cervix - Mood Swings

Hmmm. That was six days before me. I cried for a couple of days after surgery, but that's because I was still processing.

Its hard to say - are you prone to PMS or mood swings? Do you feel any other symptoms that are unusual for you? How old are you?

So far my only symptoms are swollen breasts - like, really swollen, but that wasnt' all that unusual before surgery...

If you sit down and listen to your body and your heart and spirit and everything is there are reason you feel sad that you are not dealing with?

It could also just be your hormones readjusting.

Hope you feel better very soon!

Re: LSH- Kept Ovaries and Cervix - Mood Swings

I would have a touch of PMS during the week before my period before. Right now I just feel a little out of whack. I get mad for no reason, sad for no reason, I just don't want to call the doctor and be put on some sort of medicine I need to take everyday. Do you think that it will pass, or I will readjust?

Re: LSH- Kept Ovaries and Cervix - Mood Swings

It could just be your hormones out of whack right now. I would say, give it a week and if you don't feel better, maybe you can ask your doc to do hormone testing.

In the meantime, just be *good* to yourself... don't try to achieve anything. Read things that make you feel good, no sad movies. Watch some comedies. Eat your favorite foods. Buy yourself a present. Spend time with someone who 'gets' you and can give you nurturing and support.

Probably you *will* readjust... the ovaries can be pretty touchy right now... but again, if you need to, see your doc.

Re: LSH- Kept Ovaries and Cervix - Mood Swings

I was like that for about a month post LSH.
I had always had PMS prior to my hyster, so it didn't feel completely foriegn, but it was annoying.
I did even out after awhile. I took a herbal supplement that helped me prior and made sure I ate well and took care of myself.
If you want the name of the herbal supplement PM me.

Re: LSH- Kept Ovaries and Cervix - Mood Swings

It takes two weeks to a few months for those ovaries to start acting right again. ;-) I cried and was very grouchy for about 3 weeks. Some women need to turn to temporary hormones or antidepressants to get through. Most don't though. You would know if you needed to, but like I said, most don't. Just buy a three pack of tissue boxes and tell your husband to be ready to duck at any time. ;-)
