Not cleared for bath yet but......

I have my post op apt next week. It will have been seven weeks by then. I've not been physically told yet that u can have a bath but I've also not bled the entire recovery period.
Any advise on if it should be ok or not yet to have a bath? It's my understanding that they want to ensure you don't get an infection but I would think after my six weeks u should be ok, no?

Re: Not cleared for bath yet but......

Ahhhh really? I know we all hear different things. Geez it would just be the best ever to have a bath. What's one more week right.
Good for you. Sounds like your feeling well and doing all the right things 😊. I've found it especially hard in the last week to not do more things. Guess as I was told six weeks for recovery it makes me think I'm super women now and really I'm NOT. Thanks again 💜

Re: Not cleared for bath yet but......

Good advice to call your dr's office for clearance since hey are privy to your records. Some dr's are very conservative about this because they want to make sure everything is completely closed before exposure to water. Some dr's will give an okay over the phone where other's want a visual inspection first. Best to check with your dr for peace of mind that doing so will be okay and won't cause any harm. I still had cuff stitches at 12 wks so everyone heals differently regardless of home much time is passed.

Re: Not cleared for bath yet but......

All doctors are different as well as nurses. His nurse told me 4 weeks but when I went in at 2 weeks I found out from the doctor I could have been bathing already. But then he had to apply silver nitrate and monsels and put me on a bath restriction for a week.

I'm just going to wait to be safe. Why ruin all the hard work invested into healing well already. Thanks all...
