Sounds like you are having a rough time. Before I had my hyst, I went back to my family dr, who had all my records from all other drs, and spoke to her about her opinion about my situation and what she felt was best, as she treated all of me, not just my female organs. That appt was extremely helpful to me.

If you and your GYN are not on the same page, I suggest you try another one. And if you are not 100% sure about having a hyst, you need to cancel for now. And as has been mentioned, you should always seek at least a 2nd medical opinion, esp if you and your surgeon are not on the same wave length.

I have endo, Stage IV. A hyst does not cure endo. It can alleviate some symptoms, and some for only a time. Any microscopic endo that is invisible may not be treated and any estrogen you either have from your ovaries or take as HRT--if you are even allowed to take HRT. Therefore, as you have endo, you do need to make sure you have researched endo extensively and know what your possible outcomes of a hyst may or may not be.

I wish you the best and hope your appt on Monday goes well.

Itsme58, Yeah, the stuff you have going on is, in my opinion, a warning flag. Please take the time to see a specialist, even if you have to drive 3 hours. Three hours is nothing in the overall scheme of things.

Before my TAH/BSO I was a very active woman. I skied, danced, river rafted, ran my own businesses and had sex every day. Then I was misdiagnosed and woke up with the TAH/BSO and ever since I have been unable to do any of the sports or activities I used to. I haven't been able to work, I've lost all my money, investments, house, savings, business and boyfriend. My child had to literally take care of me for the first two years. I'm buried in medical bills, in constant pain and don't have any hope of a future relationship with a man.

All because I let a doctor scare me into a surgery I didn't need. If I'd gone for that second opinion, I'm sure I'd be OK today.

If you get a second and third opinion and you are SURE about needing the surgery, then you will be better equipped to handle any negative outcomes. It is a terrible thing to have the "IF only ..." syndrome. Don't do that to yourself.

Best wishes,

PS

The best "medicine" I have ever taken for the lupus, RA & fibro pain has turned out to be simply, Cod Liver Oil. It works better for me than anything else. When they did a study on Cod Liver Oil for RA patients the researchers could see an improvement in the bloodwork of 87% of the test patients within 3 weeks. Better yet, nearly everyone of the patients reported feeling better! I think the studies are still underway, but that was enough for me to try it and to my amazement, it worked! I'm now off all that other junk. (Never stop your other meds cold turkey or without consulting your doctor.)
