Freezing

Iam eleven days post-op and over the last few days have had times when I am freezing. The temperature in the house is warm and everyone else says their warm. I kept my ovaries but am wondering if this may have something to do with hormones. I also keep getting muscle cramps in my calfs (probably should take vitamins) but wondered if anyone else is having this. Any ideas? Could it be the amount of water I'm drinking?

Muscle cramps in your legs can definitely be a sign that you are not drinking enough. I drank a lot the first week and then started forgetting to and at night I would realize that I had only had a couple of glasses of liquid.
I wish I knew what to tell you on the cold thing. I had my ovaries out and I have gone from a person that is usually cold to a person that gets awfully out of the blue.

My temperature was very out of whack after surgery. My ovaries were taken, but I was already well into menopause, so I didn't think it was hormonal. I'd consider temperature problems within the first two weeks easily due to surgery itself, other than obvious hot flashes.

I had hot and cold flashes (post op was the first time I ever had the chills.) Definitely more fluids on the muscle cramps-- water, Gatorade-- and bananas. Potassium has a lot to do with relieving leg cramps. Post op for me, bananas are giving me some heart burn, but Gatorade is okay so far.

I'm with you on the freezing...I've been covered in a blanket every day since I've been home. My husband says its warm in here...I disagree. Also having the leg cramps...I started drinking more and it has gone away. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

I kept my ovaries and after surgery had the night sweats and then the chills, I could not stop shaking and chattering my teeth. I would climb back into bed and try to sleep and then it would settle. I am nearly 5 weeks post op now and all these symptoms have stopped after approx three weeks. Hope this helps

I'd forgotten about the chills, but I had them after surgery and at least for a week. It was late May, warm out, and I was bundled in a blanket!

Another tip for people: magnesium. It can help with leg cramps, and it REALLY helps make bowel movements easier (which you want - no straining!)

Yup, I went through the "freezing" stage also. My mom came in and said "It's 74 degrees outside and you're under a blanket!!" Welp, ya, I was

Monday marks 5 weeks since surgery and I'm happy to report that it's finally passed by!

Along with my hot flashes I get the chills. I seem to go from teeth chattering, can't get warm, to in a second. I usually have more hot flashes then cold spells, but lately it seems I have the chills right before I am going to flash. My blood work says I'm in menopause. Estrogen less then 10, FSH around 33. I talk to Dr. this Friday about how my symptoms have been. He wanted me to wait 6 weeks from my 2 week check up.
I wish someone had a crystal ball to let me know if I'm near the end of it, or I still have a long way to go. Dh calls me thermalwoman now. Guess I need a cape to go with the title! Hormones are wonderful things aren't they?
Sending a prayer that you find the "right" temperature soon!
