Why am I feeling this way???

I had a LAVH last Thursday September 16th. The surgery went fine and I went home the next day. Recovery at home has been a bit hard because I have a 3 year old who is very hard to deal with and my husband doesn't know how to deal with him so I have had to intervene thus was excited when the week came and I would be alone however now that I am alone during the week I am bored and frustrated that I cannot do anything.

I was able to keep my ovary so I am surprised that I spent all day yesterday crying. I thought this would only happen if I lost my ovary and went into menopause. I didn't think my hormones would be affected.

Any help from anyone would be helpful. I feel like I went crazy yesterday and I completely freeked my husband out.

Please Help!!!!

Re: Why am I feeling this way???

Jimcara, you are not alone. We are all having our moments post op, that I think are taking us all by suprise. It is my understanding that it can take a while for the ovaries to go back to "normal". I think that, coupled with the type of surgery we have just undergone (the mental aspect is there wether we want to admit it or not i think), and the anesthesia and drugs we just have to give it a bit of time. Here's a ((((hugs)))) and there are alot of shoulders here also to lean on while we make it through this new journey of life.

Re: Why am I feeling this way???

Went threw somthing like that too. My doc said that even keeping my one ovary, it was possible that it would go into "shock" for a few weeks or a month or so. Mine popped into action about week two. But when I felt that way, my doc gave me a small patch to help, it did, and now I feel great. Just give it time. I figure, my tube for the ovary I kept was taken too and then it attached to my hip bone some how so, if I lost all my limbs and then was chained to a new state I would prob go into shock for a while too. Call your doc and let him/her know how you feel. Apparently this is really common and they are completely prepared for that. I wish they would have told you that, then this wouldnt have come as such a shock. Take care of yourself, call your doc, and remember that for most everyone on here that I have read about within a few weeks it kicks back in and starts working to regulate again.

Re: Why am I feeling this way???

Hey There , I to have my ovaries and I assure you , you are NOT alone! I have had a few of those episodes! I leave my poor husband in confusion going over every step he took trying to figure out when he stepped on my toes..lol I talked to my GYN/Surgeon about it and he said it is perfectly normal , We still have our ovaries BUT our body has went through quite a change and has to adjust to everything being different , They will even out! Go to your Doc and tell him that you are feeling this way and he may prescribe something that will help!!! I know you are bored , So am I , both of my girls are in school...BUT take this time to heal! Take a nap , relax , read , do something relaxing! It will take time for you to realize that everything will still be there waiting for when you are READY to get back to them..Your Hubby will manage with your son! It's a good learning experience for him , he gets to see what you deal with!!..LOL! HUGS sweetie! It's going to be Ok! Just relax! I know easier said than done , But you really need to! A lot of my crying comes from frustration with myself and what i can't do and not with my true emotions them selves!
