4 weeks post op hysterectomy (TAH) - UTI concerns

Hello Ladies,

At my 2 wk post op appointment, I was prescribed antibiotics for a UTI that I had developed. I was told that this is common after surgery. My concern is that I have three days left on the medicine and I'm still experiencing discomfort and pain. Has anyone been through this?

You can still have some irritation from the infection.
Make sure to drink a lot of water to flush out any infection left and also to help lubricate the irritated tissues in the bladder.
If you still experience discomfort a week after stopping the antibiotics, get checked again to be sure nothing is left since sometimes you need to take the antibiotic for longer or sometimes you need a different antibiotic to kill the specific infection.

Your welcome...unfortunately i know too much about bladder infections.
And if you do indeed need to go see if you have the infection still, ask to have the test to see what type of bug is in there to be sure to get the right antibiotic next time to get it killed off.
