5 days post hysterectomy: Shoulder Pain

Oh my goodness gracious. When dies this miserable shoulder pain go away!? I can't really complain, because it has subsided a lot, however it will come back a few times a day and go from the right to the left shoulder. It's killer. I had my surgery on 5-11-15. I don't want to take anymore pain medication, and the heating pad only relieves the pain for a short time. Any suggestions?

The pain in the shoulders, neck, is the air moving around from the surgery. You fill up with air during the surgery and it just takes time for it to dissipate. It will move around.. Nothing you can do.. just needs to run its course. I am feeling the same thing. I had my surgery on the 14th. It comes and goes and sometimes worse than other times. Hang in there...

Hi, I had awful pain from gas too. Walk around as much as you feel you can, but don't overdo it. I walk after supper still at 5 weeks post op. If I don't I start to get bloated & gassy. For the shoulders I used heating pad but I also did shoulder circles and swung my arms front to back and did arm circles. When I did that and then walked around I was able to pass gas. Getting into a hands & knee position off & on helped me too. The gas is very annoying and painful. Get better soon
