pre op today/she said what??

Hey everyone, had my pre-op at the hospital. They did my insurance info then off I went to a very nice nurse to go over the night before instructions.. so here she said no need to shave (my vaj-j) they said if they need to they would use clippers. So shaving is a no-no the week of due to any open knicks my cause infection, She said nothing of me getting a bowel prep either which I found strange? she said I could ask my doc tomorrow at my last doctors visit about that.. So then she said Go ahead and have sex with d/h the night before if you want to!! WHAT.. I was really surprised they would allow that the night before my surgery!! Any case I won't be doing that! don't want to take any chances for infections or germs.. I am way to nervous anyway to even enjoy it......They say to bath the nite of and then wait 1 hour and then put this cloth wipe sanitizer over my belly area then no showers till after surgery... Then she said 4=6 weeks to heal up and rest.. Will see the doc tommorrow and go over my long list of questions .......hope he's ready for me! .. 3 days to go and cleaning like a mad woman...I want this over so bad, the waiting is torture.... take care all...

Now that you've had your pre-op, you're almost there!

I wasn't shaved for my TVH and like you said, shaving can cause small niks that could cause infection, so it's not a good idea to shave yourself with consulting your doctor first. I didn't have to do a bowel prep either. Just nothing by mouth after midnight. I was also allowed intimacy the night before and it didn't cause any problems.

I had a tah/bso and the top part was shaved after I was in the OR ( and put out ). No bowel prep for me either, only nothing after midnight.

I was told that sex was ok too because I was given a betadine douche at the hospital the morning of surgery ( was allowed to do it myself ).
