I have to wear TED hose BEFORE surgery?

I am reviewing my pre-op instructions before my trip tomorrow since the nurse wasn't very clear to begin with. I was given TED hose to wear to the hospital. I had never heard of such a thing. I am not a happy camper. The hose don't seem to fit right, especially around my toes and foot. I'm having trouble finding shoes to wear because of this. And, the weather here is 85 degrees in the AM with about 90% humidity and I have to wear these things the moment I wake up for about 3 1/2 hours before I even need to leave for the hospital. This is not what I want to think about the night before going to the hospital. I know the doctor/hospital wants to prevent blood clots, but good grief! Thanks for letting me rant!

That's a new one on me. I didn't even get mine until I showed up at the hospital on the day-of. Of course, once they went on, it was three days before I was allowed to take them off again!

Hey queenscooby!

I didn't have to wear them until I got to hospital, but every doctor has different protocols so best you do what yours want and trust in them to do the best for you and have what's right for you and your surgery outcome and post-op recovery.

Good luck beautiful girl and see you on the other side! You'll be fine!!!!!

Hugs galore, xoxo.
