2 days after & constipation relief I found out about
I had the da vinchi procedure on the 3rd. I came home yesterday feeling ok then I had some dinner & this morning breakfast. I became very constipated overnight; never had it so bad before today. I was getting so upset & mentally down; frustrated because it wasn't happening. I had taken 2 prescription strength stool softeners by the time the hospital nurse called late this morning. I told her about the problem & she said not to eat foods like rice, bananas, or cheese because they bind you up. Ugh oh. Part of my dinner was homemade mac & cheese & this morning I had my caregiver add cheese to my eggs. I wish I'd known what not to eat before I left the hospital. I had been drinking lots of water & walking at times & eating fruit. Should've had more veggies too! She recommended prune juice, pear juice, apple juice, & Miralax, but to check with my doctor about that, which I did. That nurse said if you're already constipated, a laxative like Miralax is fine & if it doesn't help after 24 hrs, use a suppository, which you can get at a drug store. So for lunch I had the Miralax mixed in water, pear juice, pears, grapes, carrots, & broccoli with half a ham only sandwich. I took the prescription stool softener, got in bed, put pillows under my legs to relieve some pressure, & fell asleep (it's still uncomfortable to sleep on my side). When I woke up a few hrs later, it happened! It worked & I feel so, so good! I'm even more relaxed now too. I hope this information helps you!

Re: 2 days after & constipation relief I found out about
Thank you so much for this information. This is my second day and I have not had a BM. It feels like it is about to happen and doesn't. I am going to send DH out for Miralax.

I'm so glad! Do keep taking the stool softener. I'm probably going to take the Miralax (grit free, unflavored) a few more days I think. I don't want that issue again for a long time!
