New here. 1 week post-op

Hello ladies!
I am 34. New to this site. My TVH was done 2-25-2013. I am still very fatigued, lots of gas and constipation. Have been taking the stool softeners and gas-x, but it's not helping. I have been watching my food intake as well.

My insomnia is horrible. I want to sleep during the day and stay up at night. This just doesn't work with my daily household responsibilities.

Today, after preparing dinner for my family, I started bleeding, is this normal? Am I trying to do too much too soon? I am still very tender and bloated.

Hugs to all! Good luck with your recovery!

Sounds like family should be preparing dinner for you, Wonder Woman! Pay attention to what your body is telling you. Did you seek medical advice? I can only sleep between doses of pain meds - max 4 hours at a time. My swelling goes way down on anti-inflammatories. Hugs to you!

Re: New here. 1 week post-op

Wow, I certainly wasn't cooking dinner for my family at 1 week post op. Last night was the first time I made dinner (I am 2 weeks post op) and yesterday was the first time I stayed awake all day. I have spoken to lots of women who say the better you take care of yourself during the first 4-6 weeks the better your overall recovery will be. Remember that you have just had major surgery and it is really important to listen to your body and rest as much as you need to.

Re: New here. 1 week post-op

Yes I am at 8 weeks post op tvh and I did not cook till 2 weeks post op. slow down. And bleeding if you fill a pad in hour go to er. spoting is normal. Bm issues, relax let it happen on own. so in bathroom sit there at your regular bm time sit all way back and just relax and let your body do work on its own. it will happen. we are scare to go after surgery so just relaxing and letting your body do it on own will help. i still to this day let my body tell me when its ready and just let it come natural no pushing. sleeping yea that was a major issue for me as well. ask doc for something to help if to bad. but it to should pass about week 3.

Re: New here. 1 week post-op

You have had major surgery and need to take it easy ie bed rest! if you are bleeding and are concerned (going through a pad an hour) then contact your doc.
Remember that you need 4-6 weeks to recover and your insides are trying desperately to heal, so even if you feel ok on the outside, you still need to take it easy. I always say the only things ending in ING that you can do are SleepING, EatING, peeING, poopING and some walkING which helps get rid of the gas. Everything else like cookING, cleanING, drivING and worrING are O U T or can wait!!
