how soon can you...um....

I am almost two weeks post-op and can someone tell me why I spend so much time thinking about 'it'??? We have always had an active sex life but the way I keep thinking about it now you would think it was an obsession. Especially since we can't do anything! Very frustrating, to say the least.

Just like kids, we always want what we can't have. I'm not even interested yet which is suprising since we are usually very active. I figure the reason it hurt for so long prior was to make this time easier to go without?

Sleeping with the O

I actually woke up having one after a long night of blistful sleep.. very odd.. and it scared me since it was not something I willingly wanted at the time.. I WAS SLEEPING. It was painful to have.. I waited four weeks post op to have an O and it was still very painful.. well more like different.. it was there though so I am thinking it will take some time?? or maybe I will just have to learn this feeling as a new pleasure??
Good luck

Patience

Don't rush anything. Give your body a chance to heal and don't expect everything to feel the same immediately.
I am now 3 years post TAH and can honestly say that everthing is great but it has taken time.
I had my cervix removed and with it all those wonderful nerve endings that we are told we need to have a wonderful "O", but with a change of postion and some retraining of the pelvic floor (kegals) my dh and I have a very fulfilling bedroom life !
Take charge of your own needs, read up on it - the internet is a fabulous resource and you can access all sorts of things without feeling embarrassed.
You are no longer in pain or fear so enjoy yourself - but take it slowly.

Hi Ladies.......I don't think Islandtourist's last comments came across as she meant because the rest of her post was about her being concernced, etc. Just my opinion though. As to sex, I also had a LSH but my Dr. made me wait 4 weeks. I don't know why, but sex is actually better now. I think it might be because I don't feel so heavy and weighed-down inside or something....plus we can do it anytime without having to think about me bleeding or being in too much pain. The Os have been awesome too (aren't they always though LOL).

I do hope that islandtourist's comment was not intended the way it sounded.

The wonderful thing about this site and these forums is that it is completely non judgmental.

There are amazing women here to support eachother through every concern big and small. Things that we may not feel comfortable discussing with others. I would hate to feel like maybe I should limit my posts to only major problems.
I don't think that having a hysterectomy is even slightly similar to having a cesarean. During a C-section the uterus and cervix are still there, in perfect working order for most. And for our sisters with A&P repairs, those are lengthy incisions made down the front and back of the vagina through precious nerve tissue. And sisters with bladder slings, I don't have one, but I would imagine having a foreign object would be a concern to how things feel as well.

I am going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that the "lot of drama" comment was made without prior thought to how it would sound.

I truly appreciate all of you here on this site, it has made this journey so much easier.
