Sore and stiff around scar - is this normal?
Dear danielle...
My surgery was only a week before yours and all I can attest to is my own personal experience. (I'm almost 45 and had a total hyst also: TAH/BSO on 10/16.)
When I went to dr office to have staples removed the nurse noticed that the area around my incision was "puffier than normal"... said it was a collection of blood under the incisional area... apply warm compresses.... and come back in 3 days.
The "puffiness" did go away.... and I'm left with a very hard ridge that runs the length of my incision. Nurse said that this was completely normal and it would soften over the course of time.
Yes, my incision is still very tender when touched.... it's still hard beneath the surface.... but looks great and has healed really well..... so I guess the soreness is just another one of those things that goes away with time....
Sorry you're uncomfortable and weepy.... hang in there.... seems to be "par for the course" for most of us. Hope you get relief soon.
